Nourishing Minds and Bodies
Proper nutrition plays a big role in student learning and development. In fact, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) links healthy eating to better grades and test scores, improved attendance and graduation rates, fewer behavioral problems, and increased concentration and memory.
American Leadership Academy views nutrition as an important part of a well-rounded educational experience for our students.
-
Students are welcome to bring their own lunch from home, or they can purchase a nutritious meal option from American Leadership Academy. Parents, rely on this page for regular updates on our school’s lunch menu.
Please note: ALA high school campuses enforce a closed campus policy; students are prohibited from leaving campus for lunch.
We provide students with access to healthy meals that meet state nutrition standards.
School cafeterias serve hot lunches, a la carte items, prepared salads, and cold lunch options.
-
Please report food allergies to the front office. If your student has severe allergies, visit the Health Office on your campus to complete an allergy action plan.
American Leadership Academy campuses are not allergy-free or nut-free, however, certain classrooms do have restrictions on nuts in the classroom. Questions about specific food items should be taken to a campus’s food service manager.

Goals for Nutrition Promotion:
School meal programs menus will be made available to students and parents, to promote participation to families.
Outreach information regarding the breakfast program and meals at each campus will be posted at each campus for families to learn the benefits of healthy meals.
The Offer vs. Serve method is used at each campus, and allows students more options to choose from each day and promotes better nutrition through offering a wide variety of options.
-
The purpose of this policy is to establish consistent meal account procedures throughout the district. Unpaid charges place a financial strain on the food service department, along with the campus.
-
ALA Applied technologies is participates in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), a federally assisted meal program that provides nutritious, low-cost, or free meals to eligible students in participating schools.
